Η Δρ Αναστασία Πούρνου είναι Καθηγήτρια στο Τμήμα ΣΑΕΤ του ΠαΔΑ. Αποφοίτησε από το ίδιο Τμήμα το 1994 και ολοκλήρωσε το διδακτορικό της το 1999 στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Portsmouth. Διδάσκει στα προπτυχιακά μαθήματα «Συντήρηση Ξύλινων Τεχνουργημάτων», «Συντήρηση Οργανικών Υλικών» και «Στοιχεία Βιολογίας και Αρχές Βιοδιάβρωσης, όπως επίσης και σε μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα του ΠαΔΑ του ΕΚΠΑ και του ΑΠΘ. Ειδικεύεται στη συντήρηση ξύλινων αντικειμένων της Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς, στη βιογενή αλλοίωση του ξύλου σε χερσαία και υδάτινα οικοσυστήματα και στη διάγνωση των φθορών του με φυσικοχημικές τεχνικές. Ασχολείται επίσης και με τη δημιουργία προτύπων στο πεδίο της Συντήρησης της Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς και από το 2007 συντονίζει την σχετική Τεχνική Επιτροπή του ΕΛΟΤ ΤΕ/96. Η Δρ Πούρνου παρουσιάζει σημαντικό αριθμό δημοσιεύσεων που σχετίζονται με την  προστασία, διατήρηση και συντήρηση της ξύλινης Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς και αντίστοιχο αριθμό ετεροαναφορών, είναι δε αξιολογητής εθνικών και ευρωπαϊκών ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων, όπως επίσης και κριτής έγκριτων επιστημονικών περιοδικών.
